Military Crane Operator Training
Meeting Compliance and Operational Requirements
Meeting Compliance and Operational Requirements
Military crane operations are subject to the same legal and industry standards as those of private-sector employers under OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart CC. This regulation defines the qualification and certification requirements for crane operators, while the ASME B30 standards establish safe practices for the operation and maintenance of crane and rigging equipment.
CICB's training supports compliance with these standards and integrates Department of Defense-specific safety requirements, helping maintain operational integrity and accountability. In addition to operator and rigger training, CICB also offers inspection and signalperson programs that strengthen safety oversight and communication during lifting operations.
Training Locations and Custom Delivery
Training Locations and Custom Delivery
CICB offers training at its accredited facilities or directly at military installations and government worksites across the United States. Mobile training delivery allows units to receive instruction using their own cranes and equipment, enhancing familiarity with their operational systems and configurations.
Before training, our team assesses the location and equipment to confirm alignment with applicable standards and safety practices. This approach provides efficient, mission-ready instruction while supporting compliance with OSHA, ASME, and military safety protocols.
Safe and compliant lifting operations are crucial to the success of military and defense missions, whether supporting base operations, logistics, maintenance, or engineering units. Crane operators and riggers must be trained to meet stringent safety and performance requirements.
CICB offers specialized crane training for military personnel, designed to enhance operational capability, mitigate risk, and promote compliance with national safety standards.
Supporting U.S. Military Branches and Defense Contractors
CICB partners with the United States military, defense contractors, and federal agencies to deliver crane and rigging training programs that align with OSHA 29 CRF 1926 Subpart CC, ASME B30 standards, and Department of Defense safety criteria. Other standards may be applicable, depending on the branch.
Training supports a wide range of operations, including equipment handling, maintenance facilities, and construction engineering. By equipping service members and civilian contractors with up-to-date knowledge and applied lifting skills, CICB helps improve efficiency, prevent incidents, and enhance mission readiness across diverse military environments.
Programs are delivered to meet the needs of:
U.S. Army engineer and logistics units.
Navy and Marine Corps base operations.
Defense logistics and supply contractors.
Air Force maintenance and construction teams.
Federal agencies supporting defense operations.

CICB provides truly exceptional overhead crane, hoist, and rigging training. The sessions are highly engaging, interactive, and hands-on—exactly what our team needs to build the confidence and capability required to perform safe, compliant lifts in our industrial environment.
A standout element of the experience is Larry’s delivery. His passion for the craft, deep expertise, and energetic facilitation style make even complex concepts easy to understand and apply. Our employees consistently walk away feeling well-prepared and motivated to use what they’ve learned.
I highly recommend CICB to any organization looking for high‑quality, safety‑focused training delivered by people who truly care about their craft and their customers."
Our site has been using CICB for a number of years to train and maintain certification for our crane operators. They exhibit an extensive background in the crane industry and their approach to training is very thorough and comprehensive. CICB’s professional instructors are highly dedicated and motivate everyone in the class to strive for excellence. The material is well-organized and the training is presented in a clear and concise manner. The classroom instruction and actual hands-on training go beyond our expectations. Our employees leave the class with a better understanding of crane operation, their capabilities, and job safety.”
This class was one of the best I have ever coordinated for our employees! Jason was, by far, the best instructor I have ever seen present an extremely technical course. His personality was perfect for the audience and made him very relatable. His technical proficiency was exemplary! He is completely capable of and, for the most part, did teach the entire class without referring to the slides or reference material. He also went way above and beyond in his commitment to ensuring the students not only learned but retained the material and stayed late into each evening to assist those requiring additional assistance. The employees could not say enough great things about Jason's skills and commitment to learning. We now have 10 employees trained to operate our cranes and, even though the majority of them do not work together, a group of employees that overcame some adversity and became a cohesive team. They are begging me to bring the CICB back!”
The Instructor Larry Kime is absolutely one of the best instructors I have ever had, and I have a degree in mechanical engineering. Larry’s knowledge both written and practical is current and accessible. I would recommend Larry to a new beginner or someone that has been in the lifting industry their whole career."
